KNOCKABOUT THEATRE and ROSALIND MACKAY

Rosalind's background is as an actor in theatre and in theatre in education. During the time she spent travelling and performing, Rosalind noticed there was a dearth of good performance material for primary age children. As a result of this, she established KNOCKABOUT THEATRE in 2000 specifically for the primary aged group. The company has since given hundreds of performances in Australian schools, theatres and festivals.

In early 2002 the company mounted a production of a health education play SCRATCHING FOR ANSWERS, commissioned by the Department of Human Services of the Victorian Government and presented by Regional Arts Victoria. In 2003 and 2005 the company received grants from The Australian Children’s Theatre Foundation to establish new works, Myths and Legends from around the World and Mixed Lollies. Both shows still remain in the company's repetoir.

In 2008, the company developed and performed their sell out show, OLYMPIC GOLD, specifically for the Olympic Games. This performance is being performed again this year to celebrate the London Olympics. Now in our thirteenth year, Knockabout Theatre continues to perform to primary aged students and due to popular demand we have reworked and brought back our show, FOUR FUNNY FOLKTALES.
As an actor Rosalind has performed in numerous theatre productions around Melbourne and Victoria playing characters ranging from Lady Macbeth, Cecily from The importance of being Earnest to Miranda from Picnic at Hanging Rock. Rosalind continues to perform in Knockabout productions as well as working as a freelance actor.

FOUR FUNNY FOLK TALES and DON MACKAY

Theatre director and writer Don was invited by daughter Ros to stage a new production of his show, FOUR FUNNY FOLKTALES as the first Knockabout Theatre show. He has since directed all of Knockabout Theatre's productions.

During twenty years as Executive Director of the Victorian Arts Council he was responsible for developing a large, high quality program of performances in Victorian schools.

His recent work has included directing the comedy THE BOOK CLUB starring Amanda Muggleton at the Victorian Arts Centre, Bud Tingwell in THE CARER, The Australian tour of Wild World - the Cat Steven's story and Under Milkwood at the Comedy and Athenaeum theatres.
